Our Mission
The Block Builderz’ mission is to promote community-led solutions to address mass incarceration and to promote economic and racial justice from a holistic perspective. A holistic approach focuses on leveraging the human capital of community leaders, activists and those with justice-involvement to be the architects of development and positive change.
Our Founder
Our founder D'Marria Monday (pictured second from left) has demonstrated expertise in using her lived experience as a formerly incarcerated woman to shine a light on the challenges faced by justice-involved Oklahomans. In 2018, she successfully led a legislative grass-roots campaign to end the shackling of incarcerated pregnant women in Oklahoma, and received local and regional recognition for her work. In addition to her role at Block Builderz, she serves as Together Oklahoma’s field organizer in northeast Oklahoma. Together Oklahoma is a grassroots organization that works to educate and advocate for policies that allow Oklahomans to thrive; and is staffed and funded by OK Policy, a non-partisan Oklahoma think tank.
